Step 1 Skills building 1:
understanding adjectives describing characteristics or personality
1. Ask Ss to describe their partners using three adjectives. ( PPT 4)
2. Collect Ss’ answers and group them, pointing out some adjectives describe appearance while others are about personality. (PPT 5)
3. Encourage Ss to give more adjectives describing personality and list them on the BB. (PPT 6)
4. Get Ss to work in groups of 4, guessing Chinese equivalents of adjectives and their opposites on P42 according to the given definitions in English.
5. Show Ss the answers and get them to read after the teacher. (PPT 7)
Step 2 Getting to know the characters
1. Ask Ss to read the instructions in part A on P42 to know about the task. ( PPT 8)
1. Get Ss to listen to the playwrighter talking about the different characters in the new play and write down each character’s personality. Listen to it again if necessary.
3. Let Ss check with their parteners before checking the answers in class. (PPT 9 )
